Happy Veterans Day
Veterans Day originated as Armistice Day on November 11, 1919, which was the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution for an annual observance in 1926 and then it became a national holiday in 1938.
This day celebrates the men and women who have served in our armed forces. We salute their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve. There are many ways to celebrate, including:
· Recognizing the veterans in your community
· Acknowledging the value of their service
· Offering support and assistance to those in need
Another way to honor veterans is to listen to and read their stories. If you have family members who served, ask them to share their stories. You can also find veterans’ stories online via the Veterans History Project, The War Horse, and Make the Connection.1, 2, 3
We know freedom is not free. The United States of America is the home of the free because of the brave men and women who served and sacrificed for our country and our people.
To our veterans, we thank you for your service!
